EAST END ARTS ANNOUNCES THE RETURN OF NUIT BLANCHE HUB IN EAST TORONTO!

Nuit Blanche Toronto, North America’s largest contemporary art event, makes its exciting return to the East Danforth neighbourhood thanks to local arts service organization, East End Arts, and with support from The Danforth Mosaic BIA.

TORONTO, September 21, 2022 – Every fall, for one special, sleepless night, Toronto is transformed by hundreds of artists and art projects as a part of Nuit Blanche Toronto. This year, residents of and visitors to Toronto’s east end can enjoy Nuit Blanche Toronto in a closer-to-home experience at the second Nuit Blanche hub in East Danforth, #nbED22! After no in-person programs for 2020 and 2021, this year’s hub is coming back bigger and better than ever!

Taking place on Saturday October 1, 2022, 7pm to 7am, along Danforth Avenue between Greenwood and Woodbine TTC Stations, this neighbourhood festival explores the theme, “The Space Beneath Us”, drawing inspiration from lost rivers and ancient shorelines, as well as the more recent stories of place, home, and the resurgence of nature. Come to enjoy over 25+ art installations! Join us for a mycelial-themed silent disco party, visit coyotes in East Lynn Park, check out an impressive storefront gallery series, and so much more!

In addition to interactive art projects and fantastical window displays, visitors to the East Danforth hub can also expect access to public bathrooms, information booths, and a variety of restaurants and businesses that will be open late along the strip. Visitors to all Nuit Blanche hubs are encouraged to visit on October 1st by taking the TTC, which will be operating all evening and morning on October 1st and 2nd, 2022, with free entry at Scarborough and North York Stations.

“East End Arts is ecstatic to bring Nuit Blanche back to east Toronto for a second time with the help of the Danforth Mosaic BIA! Nuit Blanche East Danforth in 2019 was a monumental experience for our team and communities, and we know that this year’s hub, after two years of no in-person events, is going to be an exciting, revitalizing experience in so many ways. Come out and join us in this incredible all-night east Toronto art party. You won’t want to miss it!” says Shana Hillman, Executive Director of East End Arts.

“East Danforth already has so many creative spaces and people worth recognizing, so we [The Danforth Mosaic BIA] are grateful for the opportunity to support the exciting return of Nuit Blanche East Danforth for the second time to animate our vibrant and diverse retail strip with contemporary art,” says Owner of Red Rocket Coffee, and Board Chair of The Danforth Mosaic BIA, Billy Dertilis.

East End Arts would like to thank the Danforth Mosaic BIA (The Danny) who have stepped forward with an investment again to help animate Danforth East between Greenwood and Woodbine TTC Stations this year. Learn more about this year’s hub HERE.

Visitors to the Nuit Blanche East Danforth hub are encouraged to share their experience on social media using the hashtag #nbED2022.
