ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

Create unique “art you can touch” with Kyla’s Yager’s Tactile Art Workshop!

Participants are invited to wrap up our ArtMEETS season with an exciting tactile art workshop led by local east end artist, Kyla Yager! She refers to this art form in her professional practice as Fidget Fine Art, because she personally creates “art you can touch” to create more accessibility within fine art spaces, so that sensory-seeking or vision impaired art viewers can experience the art and its tactile nature.
This workshop will invite participants to use mini hot glue guns, and vibrant coloured acrylic paints and gel varnishes to create their own unique piece of tactile art to take home!

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Website | Instagram | TikTok

Kyla Yager is a Toronto based, New Orleans bred visual artist who utilizes her ADHD and mental health to intuitively guide her paintbrush. Kyla has been creating since early childhood, received her BFA in Visual Arts at York University in 2018, and completed OCAD’s Fineline Business Accelerator Certification in Summer 2023. She has been exhibiting professionally since early 2020 having been featured in juried art fairs, gallery exhibitions, publications, Nuit Blanche 2023, and won Art Battle Toronto May 2024.. She begins her process by playing with paint (acrylic, sometimes ink), and then subconsciously highlights hidden imagery within the medium. Repetition and pattern are her stimming, which adds to her maximalist signature style. As a full time artist, Kyla facilitates intuitive art workshops, does live painting and face painting at events, paints murals, and loves collaborating with other artists.
