PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DEADLINE FOR THIS CALL HAS NOW PASSED. WE THANK EVERYONE WHO APPLIED! The Danforth Mosaic BIA and East End Arts invite artists to apply to the Danforth Mosaic BIA Mural Project! The deadline for submissions is October 16, 2024, at 11:59 PM EST.
ABOUT THE PROJECT
In partnership with East End Arts, the Danforth Mosaic BIA is launching an exciting opportunity to enhance the Danforth Mosaic neighbourhood through a vibrant new mural. This project will highlight the diverse cultural tapestry of the community and build upon the area’s public art legacy. One artist or collective will be selected to create a mural that encapsulates the dynamic diversity of local businesses, residents, and visitors. Please scroll down to learn how to apply to this Call for Proposals.
MURAL THEME
The mural will be themed around the concept of a Mosaic, representing the diversity, inclusivity, and unity of the Danforth Mosaic BIA. The mural will visually reflect the vibrancy of our community, celebrating its cultural richness and fostering connections among those who encounter it. The project will align with the BIA’s branding and be located at one of several potential parkette sites along Danforth Avenue. The final location is still to be determined and will be confirmed shortly.
SELECTION PROCESS
One artist or collective will be chosen through this open call. The selection will be made by a five-person peer assessment committee, representing both the artistic community and the Danforth Mosaic. The committee, guided by East End Arts, will assess proposals based on artistic merit, relevance to the mural theme, and the artist’s ability to deliver a project of this scale.
PRODUCTION DETAILS
The selected artist(s) will receive $5000 in compensation, plus an additional $1500 for materials. All necessary equipment, including lifts, will be provided. Additionally, storage for materials will be available.
