She/Her/Siya

Nikki Cajucom is a community-builder and multi-disciplinary storyteller who loves to dream, dance, and dabble. Her engagement with the arts spans overlapping sectors and has taken on a variety of shapes and forms over the last 15 years, revealing invaluable insight into the different ecosystems that collide into the city’s creative biome.

A daughter of the diaspora, Nikki’s professional career is punctuated by her experience at the Kapisanan Philippine Centre for Arts and Culture, where she redesigned and revived the organization’s community outreach and arts mentorship programs, triggering a personal journey of cultural self-discovery. After leading the centre’s programming for two and half years, Nikki was appointed Executive Director of Kapisanan in 2015 and spearheaded the youth-led nonprofit through its newly earned charitable status.

Nikki’s tenure at Kapisanan is a celebration of collaboration and partnerships, and she is most passionate when creating access, providing platforms, and making connections for others. The motivation to do both on a grander scale brought Nikki to Artscape Daniels Launchpad in 2018, where she coordinated creative entrepreneurship training and workshops for artists.

Because Nikki loves to try anything at least once, she developed a habit of saying yes to every opportunity that presented itself to her, resulting in a non-traditional pathway peppered with experimental and surprising projects. In recent years, Nikki is learning to discern, and what has remained consistent is a dedication to assembling and nurturing collectives, championing the voices of those often unheard, and promoting spaces where folks feel a sense of joy and belonging.

Nikki holds an HBA from the University of Toronto, where she completed a specialist in arts and culture and majored in art history. She currently lives and plays in Tkaronto, where she was also born and raised. Although often tempted to uproot, Nikki’s heart belongs to this land, and most of her leisure time is spent exploring this concrete jungle, appreciating its beauty in unexpected places, and basking in the sun at Riverdale Park with Bagel, her Italian Greyhound. Sunlight is the best medicine.
