On Thursday September 28, abstract artist Callen Schaub launches his latest exhibit Energy. The show is a collection of paintings that Schaub says, “encourage people to maintain a positive mindset and energy. My art illustrates the impact that words have on people. Words evoke emotional responses which can be destructive, uplifting, or both. I want to encourage my audiences, especially the younger members, to use words and art to empower others.” Schaub’s work takes inspiration from the positivity expressed in the online community as well as responding artistically to the experience of being trolled.
Callen is best known for his innovative painting techniques using spin machines, swinging troughs and pendulums in live performances and online as featured on Insider, Buzzfeed, and CBC Arts videos. On September 30th from sunrise to sunset, Schaub will be using a crane as an artist’s tool for a performance at Nuit Blanche, presented by the Riverside BIA & Project Gallery.
