Art MEETS: Searching for Stories is a creative engagement project, inspired by Natalie Goldberg’s quote: “Go. Find something ordinary and tell us about it.

Tell stories, listen, play, and write! Take part in engaging, interactive storytelling and writing activities led by drama artist, educator, story gatherer and community arts enthusiast Melanie Fernandez-Alvarez. Exchange your stories and celebrate the hidden stories of everyday. This workshop is developed for individuals 18 and up.


Melanie Fernandez-Alvares is a drama artist, educator, story gatherer and community arts enthusiast. Melanie’s work is inspired by objects, text, poetry, words, pictures, places… experiences that connect, inform, inspire, educate and celebrate stories. Armed with her drama background she shapes the process of creating and performing artwork through experiential techniques, self-expression and inclusive practices. Currently, Melanie’s focus is on bringing groups together to tell and listen to everyday stories.


Art MEETS is a series of FREE community arts workshops in Toronto’s east end that invites you to make, explore, experience, transform, and share. Art MEETS provides a variety of fun, accessible, and engaging opportunities to participate in arts workshops led by experienced, welcoming, and talented artists and arts educators. Join us and come tap into your creative side!

Art MEETS is presented by East End Arts in partnership with the Toronto Public Library.
